Hard work Pays off- the season is here!
Women's basketball will never be as popular as Men's basketball, or any Men's sport at that. However, I take pride in being apart of a college level basketball team.
No, I do not play Division 1. I am not on the main TV screens and I do not get the best sports gear from my team like Division I schools, such as Maryland and Duke get. However, I do get a decent amount of nice clothing, equiptment and shoes from this team. I feel a sense of pride and belonging everytime I put on my jersey and represent my school across my chest.
I believe there is a fine line between Division 1 and Division 2 sports when it comes to working hard. Yes, the competition is clearly different. But when it comes to time commitment, I would argue that Division 2 programs work just as hard as Division 1 programs.
Since the first week of school I have been involved in 3 a day workouts Monday through friday. I have woken up at 6am everyday throughout the whole week for pool and track work outs. I have been to practices, liftings, indivudal workouts, speed and agilities. I can't count the number of suicides I have ran and the number of different drills I have done.
Now that the season has finally arrived, I have 2 1/2 hour practices 6 days a week. I have to go to the athletic training room to get treatment on my body for an hour before practices. I also have to lift 3 times out of the week for 1 1/2 hours. Basketball is time consuming.
BUT I LOVE IT!
I love the feeling after I have worked hard.
I love my team and the bonding and relationships built.
I love the feeling of accomplishment.
I love winning.
My team went 22-11 last season and made the NCAA tournament. We have a goal to get a PSAC championship this season. We are thirsty for a ring!
I take pride in being a full time STUDENT ATHLETE!!!

Eagles V.S Giants
Sooo I went to the Eagles and Giants games last week in Philly. I learned from attending the game last year, to NOT wear my Giants gear to the Eagles stadium. Eagles fans threw bottles at me and called me crazy names. Now I understand what it is like to be a die hard fan! There is nothing wrong with that. But when you completely disrespect someone by throwing things at them, then there is clearly a problem!
Anyways, this year I decided to dress normally, but my uncle Will left me two tickets and It was only right to sit on the Giants side (that was filled with a lot of eagles fans) and cheer for my uncle and his team.
BUT, there is a problem with that- when the Giants play the Eagles...
I am friends with Star Running- Back LeSean McCoy. I've known him for years from back home, Harrisburg.
So I enjoy watching the Eagles play and found myself cheering for Shady after a few nice plays he had.
HOWEVER, I really wanted my uncle to win the game.
I left fans SOOO confused. Sometimes I was yelling for my uncle, and then I would yell "Good move Shady". The guy that sat in front of me turned around and said " Ma'am I think you are confused" haha. I had to explain to him my situation.
After the game was over, my uncle left me two family passes to go see him after the game. I brought my friend from my basketball team with me.
We went down to the family section and waited for Mr. Beatty. The eagles stadium has their family room set up right next to each other. This is really weird because after a win or a loss, who wants to then gather together after the game? haha I just wouldn't have liked the idea as a player, but as a fan I would love it.
All the Eagles and Giants players were walking by with their families. I saw Avant, and Graham, Lewis and so many other players for the Eagles. I saw Shady and gave him a hug, and also took a picture with Desean Jackson as I was waiting for my uncle. I watched Cruz get interviewed after the game as well. It was just a wonderful environment to be around, especially for someone who loves watching football.
When my uncle came out I chatted with him for a little. He is a man with short words but is very goofy lol. I love him dearly and cherish being his niece very much!
Its moments like this that I say, I am PROUD of my uncle and his accomplishments and can't wait to see him continue to grow as a player!
